Why we exist
Verification was too slow and too expensive. We built something else.
Founded in 2024, Sustainext started from a simple observation: traditional Validation and Verification Bodies are often slow and costly enough that project developers — particularly across the Global South — either avoid independent verification altogether, or settle for lower-rigor shortcuts to afford it.
We use technology and AI to make verification real-time and data-driven, built on trust data infrastructure designed to integrate directly with registries, rather than running on the manual, paper-heavy process most of the industry still relies on. Sustainext is an accredited Validation and Verification Body for the Teravent Carbon Registry, and our vision centers on the Global South — the geographies most underserved by today's verification infrastructure, and most in need of affordable, credible access to climate finance.

Our team combines prior experience at Big Four consulting firms with hands-on project and field backgrounds, and qualified specialists across the disciplines we verify against.
Certified lead auditors
ISO 14065 and competency-aligned lead verifiers and validators across all four of our accredited disciplines.
Climate scientists & geospatial specialists
Backgrounds in climate science, remote sensing, and land-use analysis, supporting bio carbon and nature-based verification.
Carbon accounting & LCA practitioners
Specialists in GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, and ISO 14040/44 methodology, across both project and corporate accounting.
Former project developers
Hands-on field experience developing and operating renewable energy, forestry, and industrial decarbonization projects before moving into independent verification — meaning the team has sat on both sides of the audit table.

Sustainext is not affiliated with the registries, developers, or rating bodies whose projects we verify. Our only obligation is to the accuracy of our opinion.
How independence is enforced
- Advisory and assurance engagements are kept structurally separate — never the same team, and typically not the same scope, for one client
- Team nomination is checked against independence requirements before every engagement
- An internal reviewer outside the engagement team signs off before any opinion is issued

- An accreditation body that audits our own processes on a recurring cycle
- A published conflict-of-interest policy, applied to every engagement
- Registries and standards bodies whose rules we verify against, not the other way around
Global reach
A network built to cover where the work is
Verification often means being on-site, not just reviewing documents remotely. Our auditor network is built to reach the geographies and sectors our clients actually operate in — expanding as our accreditation scope and client base grow, rather than being fixed to one region from the start.
